How a case study is made
MSE-53 Case Study Guide · Edition 1.0 · October 2026
One named client
Each case study is about one client and one engagement. The client is named only if their written permission covers it; otherwise it is Anonymous or not published.
One real outcome
It describes something that happened, from delivered work: not a plan, a pilot in progress or an illustration.
Approved figures
Every figure is measured, stated with its period and source, and approved by the client in writing. None is estimated, rounded up or extrapolated.
- Work delivered
- Draft from template
- Confidentiality review
- Figures approved by client
- Written permission
- Editorial and claims review
- Publish
Requests are timed to the end of the engagement, when the result is known. The client sees the full draft and approves the text, figures and quote; the permission form records exactly what they approved. The client may withdraw or narrow permission at any time.
Confidentiality states
| State | What it means | Where it may appear |
|---|---|---|
| public | Client named; full story and approved figures | Any channel the permission allows |
| limited | Client named only to the audiences the permission lists, with only the detail it covers | Named audiences only, such as a proposal under a non-disclosure agreement; never a public page |
| anonymous | Nothing identifies the client: no name, logo, exact location or distinctive figure | Any channel the permission allows |
| private | Internal record only | Never published or shown to prospects |
A case study whose state is not recorded is treated as Private. Government, public-body and NDA work is Private unless the body or counterparty agrees otherwise in writing.
What a case study never contains
- A figure, quote or name the client has not approved in writing.
- A comparison with, or criticism of, another company, supplier or person.
- A promise or suggestion that other clients will get the same result.
- A description of a MominSheikh.com capability as used, unless it was live when the work was done.
- Personal data of the client's customers or staff, or anything the client shared in confidence.
- A venture of the founder presented as an independent client: a case study about one of his own businesses says so.
